Is Exness trustworthy? Three licences and what to check

Exness publishes CySEC, FCA and Seychelles FSA licences. But the right question is not whether the broker is trustworthy - it is which licence applies to your account.

In this article5
  1. The licences Exness publishes
  2. The most important point
  3. How to verify it yourself in ten minutes
  4. What can be verified about the trading conditions
  5. What to do instead of deciding whether to trust

This is the most searched question about Exness, and the correct answer is not “yes” or “no” but:
which licence applies to your account. For clients in Vietnam, it is usually not the one
displayed on the home page.

The licences Exness publishes

  • CySEC — Cyprus, number 178/12
  • FCA — UK, number
    730729
  • FSA — Seychelles, number SD025

These three regulators are very different in strictness:

  • FCA (UK) — high capital requirements, mandatory segregation of client money, a
compensation scheme, and retail leverage limits.
  • CySEC (Cyprus) — within the common European framework, with a capped compensation
    scheme.
  • FSA (Seychelles) — the offshore group: low capital requirements, usually no compensation
    scheme, and limited enforcement capacity.

The most important point

A brokerage group has several legal entities, each with
its own licence. The UK entity serves UK clients; the offshore entity serves international clients.

Clients in Vietnam are almost always in the second group. Which means the FCA licence may
not apply to your account at all — and that is something you only learn by reading the client agreement, not
the home page.

How to verify it yourself in ten minutes

  1. Open the client agreement and find the entity name and place of registration in the opening section.
  2. Take the licence number of that specific entity.
  3. Go to the relevant regulator’s site and use its
    public register.
  4. Cross-check: does the entity name match, is the licence still valid, and what services does it permit?

The last step is the one most often skipped. There are cases where the licence number is real but belongs to
a different entity in the same group.

What can be verified about the trading conditions

Beyond licensing, a few specifics can be measured:

  • Rebate cycle — daily, credited straight to the trading account, with no intermediary
    wallet.
  • Minimum deposit — from $10 on the general account types.
  • PlatformsMT4,
MT5, WebTrader and a proprietary app.

What to do instead of deciding whether to trust

Three practical measures, which apply to any broker and not only this one:

  • Do not leave all your capital in the account. Keep enough there for margin plus a safety
    buffer.
  • Make a small test withdrawal early, within the first month, to see how the process runs
    before there is any pressure.
  • Withdraw profits periodically rather than letting them accumulate for years.

The full conditions and rebate levels are on the Exness page.
